File Format

What to upload and why it matters

PNG (Recommended)
  • Transparent background — no unwanted colour blocks
  • Lossless compression — no quality degradation
  • Best for text, logos, and graphic designs
  • Ideal for any design with hard edges
JPEG
  • Good for photographic / full-bleed artwork
  • Smaller file size than PNG
  • No transparency support
  • Export at maximum quality (100%)

💡 Always use PNG with a transparent background for apparel — the background colour of the garment shows through.

Resolution & Dimensions

Pixel counts that produce sharp, professional prints

Low resolution vs high resolution comparison — blurry 72 DPI vs sharp 300 DPI
72 DPIPixelated ✗300 DPISharp ✓

Minimum dimensions by product

T-Shirts4500 × 5400 px
Hoodies4500 × 5400 px
Tank Tops4500 × 5400 px
Long Sleeves4500 × 5400 px

⚡ Higher resolution always produces better prints. Never upscale a low-res image — it stays blurry.

Colour Mode

Get your colours right before uploading

RGB

vs
CMYK

✗ CMYK

Avoid

Use RGB colour mode (sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile)
Rich black = R 0, G 0, B 0 (#000000) — the deepest printable black on fabric
Vivid, saturated colours print best on fabric
Screen colours always look more vibrant than printed — leave headroom
Avoid very subtle colour differences (e.g. dark grey on black) — they won't show

Text, Size & Placement

Typography, safe-zone, and centering guidelines

Typography

Minimum 32pt font for apparel (≈ 130 px at 300 DPI) — smaller text blurs on fabric
Bold, heavy fonts survive the printing process best
Minimum 2pt line weight for light fabrics (t-shirts, tanks)
Rasterise / flatten all text layers before export

Safety margins & placement

Keep max print width ≤ 12 inches — full-width prints can feel overwhelming on garments
Centre designs visually, not just mathematically — heavy elements on one side feel off-balance
Keep key content ≥ 0.5″ from any edge and inside the safe zone
Think about anatomy — designs appear on men's, women's, and kids' products

True Black

Rich black R:0 G:0 B:0 (#000000)

Use #000000 for the richest, deepest black on fabric.

Screen vs. Printed

Onscreen colour

Printed colour

Printed

Screen colours look more vibrant. Leave headroom so prints don't disappoint.

Visual Centering

Mathematically centered

Math ✗

Visually centered

Visual ✓

Heavy elements on one side feel off-balance even when mathematically centred.

Printing on dark garments

DTG printers lay a white ink base first, then print colour on top
Keep your colours solid and fully opaque — semi-transparent fills lose pop
Avoid near-black designs on black garments — the contrast will disappear

Common mistakes to avoid

These will cause your design to be rejected or look bad when printed

Low Resolution

Images below 300 DPI appear blurry and pixelated when printed. Always start from a high-res source — never upscale a low-res image to meet the requirement.

CMYK Colour Mode

Our printers process files as RGB. Uploading a CMYK file causes unexpected colour shifts. Convert to sRGB in Photoshop or your design tool before saving.

Copyrighted Content

Never use brand logos, sports team imagery, character art, or any assets you do not own. Only upload original designs or properly licensed creative assets.

Thin Lines & Fine Detail

Strokes thinner than 1 pt may disappear or bleed on fabric. Use bold, chunky elements — fine hairlines that look crisp on screen often vanish in print.
